Markel to Sponsor 2009 Jockey Day at Old Friends

Markel would like to invite everyone to join us for a celebration of horse racing and heroes, of history and here-and-now as we proudly sponsor Jockey Day at Old Friends on Tuesday, October 20th.  You will enjoy an evening of fine food, candid conversation and memorable horse tales with some of the greatest athletes in our sport, many of whom have ridden Old Friends champions.  Among the honored guests will be Calvin Borel, who has had an extraordinary year as the pilot aboard this year’s Kentucky Derby winner MINE THAT BIRD and super-filly RACHEL ALEXANDRA, and has generously agreed to attend his second event at Old Friends this year.  Chris McCarron, Kent Desormeaux and Jean Cruguet will also be among the Old Friends supporters who are expected to attend.
